For schools and IT
PadLink runs on the teacher's own PC. There's no PadLink server, no account with us, and no analytics or tracking.
Student privacy
- Students don't create accounts. They join with the lesson's code and pick their name from the teacher's class list.
- Student boards, raised hands and poll answers are kept only in the PC's memory during the lesson, and are deleted when the class closes.
- Class lists hold names and, if the teacher chooses, a team and seat number. Nothing else.
- Google Drive: PadLink only gets the files the teacher picks, and never changes or shares anything in their Drive.
School networks
- On simple networks, the iPad and Chromebooks connect straight to the PC.
- Where they can't, Remote mode connects through Microsoft's encrypted Dev Tunnels relay over port 443, like a normal website. It needs a one-time sign-in on the PC with a GitHub or Microsoft account.

Updates
PadLink checks for updates by itself, and every update is checked against PadLink's own signature before it installs.
